Leaders United in Volunteer Service (L.U.V.S.) is a day devoted to our members coming together to tackle a variety of projects for our nonprofit partners in the Denver metro area. The Junior League of Denver (JLD) has been repeatedly commended for the wonderful work our members do and the significant time savings we have achieved through our efforts, enabling our partners to better serve the community.

The History of L.U.V.S. 

We hosted our eighth annual day of service on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Last year’s theme was “Pathways to Progress” where we served the following partners: The Blue Bench, Brent’s Place, Dress for Success Denver, Florence Crittenton Services, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, MotherWise of Colorado, Porchlight, A Precious Child and Reach Out and Read Colorado. Florence Crittenton Services

We hosted our seventh annual day of service on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Our theme was “Building a Better Future” where we served the following partners: Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado, Florence Crittenton Services, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, MotherWise Colorado, There with Care Denver, UpRoot Colorado, The Urban Farm and Urban Peak. MotherWise Colorado

Our sixth annual day of service took place on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

The theme was “Opening Doors” where we worked with a collection of community partners to complete an assortment of projects. From clean-up and landscaping projects to painting and serving lunch, there was a wide variety of projects to support the Denver metro area. All together $12,000 was distributed in grants to our partners to provide funds for supplies and materials to execute these projects. Watch the 2022 L.U.V.S. Recap Video.

The Urban Farm

Our fifth annual day of service took place on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

In alignment with our expanded community impact area, and disrupting the cycle of systemic poverty for women and families in Denver, the theme was “Breaking the Cycle”. We specifically focused on working with partners that help families break the cycle of poverty through education, support, resources and more! Watch the 2021 L.U.V.S. Recap Video.

Kenzi’s Causes

Our fourth annual day of service took place on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s L.U.V.S. event looked a little different. We were still able to make an impact by coordinating 260 participants to help with five socially-distant masked service projects  and donation drop-offs. Watch the 2020 L.U.V.S. Recap Video.

The GrowHaus

Our third annual day of service took place on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

“Empowering Our Future Generation” – 250 volunteers supported 13 community partners helping the next generation of youth by exposing them to positive role models, challenging gender stereotypes, emphasizing the importance of hard work and supporting their dreams. Girls on the Run Rockies

Our second annual day of service took place on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

“A Century of Progress” – More than 200 JLD volunteers donated 900+ direct volunteer service hours to 10 phenomenal nonprofit partners. The League also provided $10,000 in grants to support various project needs. Watch the 2018 L.U.V.S. Recap Video.

L.U.V.S. Kickoff Event

The inaugural Leaders United in Volunteer Service (L.U.V.S.) event was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Our Community Council and L.U.V.S. Co-Chairs, Liz Peetz and Stephanie Richards, implemented our first day of service. With 175 members participating, we recorded 700 hours of volunteer service, helping eight community partners in the Denver metro area on various projects.
