Steps to Become a Member

If you are a woman at least 21 years of age and living in the Denver metro area, you are eligible to join the Junior League of Denver!
Applications for the 2026 New Member class are now closed and will reopen in late spring/early summer 2027. If you’re interested in joining, sign up for our interest list! We’ll reach out with details about fall and winter information sessions, summer recruitment events, and when the 2027 application becomes available.
The Junior League of Denver welcomes all women who want to get more involved in our community, volunteer, build skills, network, fundraise and attend social events. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment and work with a collection of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.
1. Learn about the Junior League of Denver: Attend a recruitment event to learn more about the League and connect with current and prospective League members. Participation at a recruitment event is not required, but is encouraged.
2. Apply Online: We accept applications each year in spring/summer. Once your application is complete and dues have been paid, you will receive an invitation to join.
3. Complete the New Member Paperwork & Pay Dues: New Member dues are $375 for the year and decrease with more/subsequent years of membership. You can either pay your dues in full or schedule a six-month payment plan at no extra cost.
4. Attend the New Member Orientation: The New Member Orientation is typically held in mid-August, which officially kicks off your New Member year. Here you will meet your advisor, be assigned to a group of New Members (neighborhood-based), learn more about the Junior League and socialize with great people!
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need a letter of recommendation or a sponsor?
- No. You just need to fill out the application and pay your New Member dues!
- Is there a limit to how many New Members are accepted?
- No, all are welcome. Invite your friends & family! We have members of all ages.
- Is there a payment plan available for dues?
- Yes. The payment plan is six equal payments of $62.50 per month. When you click on the dues payment link, choose the payment plan option to process your first $62.50 payment. The remaining payments will be processed automatically on that same date for the following five months.
- What if I cannot attend the orientation? Do I have to wait another year to apply?
- Not to worry, although the New Member Orientation is the best way to start your JLD membership, we understand that circumstances can occur and conflict with the retreat date. Please let the recruitment team know and they will work out an alternative for you.
- Are there New Member requirements?
- Yes. Over the span of your first year, New Members are asked to fulfill a certain number of credits from attending the retreat, to 4-6 group meetings, 3 training events, 1 Done in a Day volunteer shift, 1 Board of Directors or council meeting, 1 General Meeting, 1 Fund Development shift (volunteer at a fundraising event), and 3 extra League Experiences (additional meetings, connection networking events, volunteer days, etc.). Active members have similar requirements but they lessen over time as people focus on their selected placement.
- Is there a time commitment?
- Ideally we ask that JLD members stay involved as an Active member for five years, with the opportunity to then step down but still be involved as a Sustainer (5+ years). We understand that circumstances can arise and ask that you just give us a heads up. If moving out of state, note that you can always transfer to other Leagues and maintain your membership.
Stay tuned for more information about upcoming recruitment events throughout the fall, winter, and next summer!
