The JLD Training Council

The Training Council is responsible for the training and development of JLD members through leadership development, personal, professional, and philanthropic trainings, General Meetings, Leadership Development Program, Get on Board and other educational opportunities. The council provides training across a huge spectrum of topics, and includes one-time trainings as well as ongoing learning opportunities.

General Meeting Committee: Plans and executes General Meetings (GMs) in conjunction with the League President. More than a forum for general announcements, GMs typically provide League members the opportunity to hear from special speakers with a unique leadership, community service or training perspective.

Personal Development Committee: Offers personal learning opportunities for all members on a wide variety of topics (e.g. Self defense, sustainable gardening, buying a home, personal finance, interior decorating and more!).

Philanthropic Development Committee: Focuses on enhancing skills that increase the philanthropic capacity of women in our organization (e.g. How to make an ask, how to manage and recruit volunteers, how to find grants and more!).

Professional Development Committee: Develops and enhances the professional skills (e.g. Behavioral interviewing, resume building, salary negotiation and more!).

Leadership Development Program (LDP) Committee: Provides training, coaching and learning opportunities for those early in their leadership journey who are looking to grow the skills it takes to become a future leader of the League and community.

Actives Plus Committee: Voluntary mentorship program to add personal development and connection opportunities throughout the year. This is in addition to a member’s current placement.

Get on Board Committee: Plans an intensive training program designed to prepare participants to serve on a nonprofit’s Boards of Directors. Graduates of the Get on Board program are matched with nonprofits in need of knowledgeable board members. Training includes various discussion on topics, and real-life experiences shared by guest speakers from the Denver community.

Research & Development Committee: Identifies new training opportunities to enable the Training Council to serve League members, in addition to evaluating existing trainings and implementing objectives from the JLD Strategic Plan. This is done through membership advocacy, data collection and analysis.
